Buckram For Curtain Headings
Buckram for curtain headings is used to create hand made headings such as pinch and goblet pleats on hand pleated curtains. It is used instead of curtain tape. It is made from 100% cotton and stiffened so it keeps the pleats in place. It is available in light and heavy sew-in weights. Light sew-in buckram is used for light fabrics and or short length curtains. Heavy sew-in buckram is used for long curtains or heavy, interlinied curtains.
To cut down the work of sewing in buckram we have the popular single and double fusible buckrams. These 100% cotton buckrams have a heat activated adhesive on one side or both sides. They can be ironed inbetween the curtain and lining fabrics rather than sewn in and are very popular with our curtain makers.
Available in 4,5 and 6 inch widths, and can be bought by the metre or in full rolls.
Can also be used for curtain tie backs.
Translucent buckram in used in the same way for voiles and very sheer, light fabrics. This buckram is not made from cotton but a sheet polypropolene. It is avaliable in 3, 4 and 5 inch widths and can be bought by the metre or in full rolls of 100 metres.
